Palemang, S Sumatra,  (ANTARA News) - All venues for the 18th Asian Games 2018 in the areas of the Jakabaring Sport City, South Sumatra, have been completed, according to a cabinet minister.

"We have conducted a final check today, and all venues are already completed. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to officiate it on July 14," Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimoeljono remarked here on Friday.

Hadimuljono, who is also the Asian Games 2018 organizing committee chairman for infrastructure, revealed that the government had prepared 14 sports venues in Jakabaraing Sport City.

The 14 venues included a shooting range, a rowing center, skateboard field, beach volley ball, Sriwijaya Sports Stadium, Bumi Sriwijaya Sports Stadium, tennis stadium, Lake Side, Jakabaring/Triathlon venues, aquatic stadium, athletic venue, lake sports venue, climbing sport venue, and a roller blade venue.

Of the 14 venues, the construction and renovation of three venues -- shooting range, rowing, and skateboarding -- are being conducted by the Ministry of PUPR.

"The total cost from the state budget is around Rp600-700 billion," he noted.

Basuki explained that President Jokowi was scheduled to inaugurate three venues -- rowing, skateboard, and bowling -- on Saturday (July 14).

The special bowling facility is the corporate social responsibility of Sinarmas and Pertamina companies.

"Jokowi is also scheduled to open the 2018 Presidential Dragon Boat Championship to be hosted by the Executive Board of the Indonesian Rowing Sports Association on July 12-15," Basuki stated.

Indonesia will host the 18th Asian Games 2018 in the two cities of Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra, from August 18 to September 2, 2018.
